Christmas Weekend with the Loliteers

Ventured out in the heavy snowfall this saturday to go to Shizuka_85's place to have a little early christmas celebration together with her, Shibahime and Ofinns. We exchanged gifts, ate delicious food, drank and had a good time. When I got back Karlskrona was even more covered in snow than when I left, more than what I've seen it be in years.

Chicken stuffed with prunes and apples, together with ovenbaked potatoes, carrots, sauce and cranberry jelly.

Dessert. Directly translated it's Saffron Pancake, but it doesn't really taste like pancake. Very delicious though!

Sail Karlskrona

Wee, 1000th journal post!

Every year around this time my town, Karlskrona, has a festive event called "Sail Karlskrona" (or "Sailet" as it's more commonly know as). It takes place at the largest of the harbours and consists of first and foremost of a sort of exhibition of boats, mostly wooden large sail-ships. But also market stalls, carousels, resturant & beer tents and music performances are set up along the harbour.
This year they had decided to combine efforts with the Navy and have their open house event at the same time, so I expected there would be plenty of boats as the usual big ships were bound to be there as well as the military boats. But wow, what a disappointment! Four military boats of which two were almost the size of fishing boats and 1 ship made out of metal. That was it this year. Incredibly lame compared to previous years.

But I managed to entertain myself, having some food and looking out at the amazing view you have from Karlskrona's guest harbour...as well as checking out the cool little 18th-century styled military camp that I'm guessing a local military history group had set up, complete with men from Poland, Chech Republic and Sweden in 18th century uniforms and weapons. The Museum also had tents of their own, where women and men in aristocratic clothes from the same period socialized...and they also had a sign that they had free classes in dancing (ofc period accurate dancing) everyday at 5 pm, which I am very bummed that I missed.

I managed to catch this man while speaking on his cell. A true Kodac moment. XD

The boat in the background is the Swedish Navy Corvette called "Visby", which is particularily amusing because it's always guarded by heavily armed guards because most of the interior is classified.

At least we were incredibly lucky with the weather. Just an hour before we went down there it rained quite heavily.

I'm currently in Kalmar hanging ut with Maria, shibahime , and Bella, ofinns . We dressed up so Maria has been posting pictures of us on daily_lolita. The funny thing is I just realised there are more photos of me from this summer than from like the last 2 years together. XD Oh well, I hope you enjoy them.

Ylva's birthday party with afternoon tea at Chaikhana in Old Town. In the evening Frida and I bought the birthday girl a bunch of drinks at Berns, where we saw the most amazing celebrity! I don't think I'll ever see anyone more famous! Stay tuned to find out who if you don't already know ^.~

Day 3 - Friday

We went shopping and set up our things at TokyoStop for the flea market that was to be the next day. After that we went to TGI Friday's and had an amazing three-course dinner together with Maria.

Day 4 - Saturday

CRAZY day! It was the day of the lolita flea market which was an enourmous success! I couldn't believe the amount of people that came! At one point the was even a 10 meter long line outside the doors of the shop. XD

Frida, Maria, Sara, Ylva, Josephine's and my table packed with stuff. We had a rack thingy that the clothing was on as well, and all the shoes were under the table.

Stockholm Day 1 & 2

I'll split up my pictures from my Stockholm trip into several posts, mainly to spare you from having to wait for like a hundred pictures to load at once.

Day 1 - Wednesday

After 5 hours on a train and dragging suitcases half across town we were tired, but managed to pull ourselves up and go meet Frida's gorgeous friend Azja (sp?). After some indian food we ended up at Debaser and had some drinks.

Day 2 - Thursday

Frida and I visited The Swedish Museum of Natural History and The Royal Armoury.

In the evening we payed a visit to her lovely friend Matilda who has the most amazing apartment close to the centre of Strockholm (which she graciously let us stay in friday to monday as she was going away and it was empty anyway) and after cuddling away with her dog Moses we went out and had a few drinks.

Back from Stockholm

I will do a picture post tomorrow, but for now...here's my daily_lolita post. I am a little sad I didn't get any outfit pictures from the day AFTER the flea market as I felt quite pretty when attending Quarter Void 's birthday tea. Another time, another time.

Eating, dressing up and sightseeing in Karlskrona

Day 1 Saturday - Dinner at Mont Martre

It was raining but it was incredibly, annoyingly hot and humid. But after a lovely lunch and some drinks at home we managed to make it through the night in the crowded cozy little resturant here in Karlskrona called Mont Martre. Unfortunately their food is mediocre, but the interior makes up for it. If you go there, order a pizza...it's more value for your money.

Day 2 Sunday - The Da Vinci Ideale Museum and the Naval Museum

We were in for a pleasant surprise when we entered the Da Vinci Ideale museum that had just moved to the pretty original looking building in the centre of town from their previous rather tiny showing room in an apartment building next to Mont Martre. It features a private collection of paintings that includes a painting by Da Vinci, that has given the museum it's name. We were awed at the amount of paintings that were by very well-known artists....Rembrandt, Van Gogh, Matisse, Munch and Lempicka were all represented by at least one paiting. Quite miraculous for our little town of around 50 000 people.
Afterwards we went to the local Naval Museum that has majestic models of old fregatts and galleons...as well several original figure heads that tower above you and makes you really imagine the great ships they have taken across the oceans.

We probably have the worlds coolest slide right outside the museum, don't you agree?

Day 3 Monday - Dinner at Nivå Bar & Steakhouse (best resturant in town)

Met up with my friend Filip and had some wonderful BBQ from Nivå's summer menu. After dinner we ended up at my house drinking coffee and having cake for dessert.

If you've made it down to here, maybe I should give you a prize. XD

Midsummer's Eve

We had a BBQ at my place on Midsummer's Eve...unfortunately Bella ( ofinns) couldn't come due to unexpected circumstances, but I got to see Frida ( shizuka_85) and Maria ( shibahime) who I hadn't seen in a while and we had a good time together with my other friends Filip, Anders, Kim and my BF Daniel.

I was sporting my new half wig and Bodyline hairpiece, as well as my H&m dress that I've worn time and again already but haven't really posted any pictures of. Some of you may have seen a couple of these already from Frida's daily_lolita post.

At a recent party with relatives, one of my younger cousins broke out;
-"Ugh I want to move abroad..."
-"So did I, when I was your age" I replied.
That is one thing that has come with age for me, realising just how well off we are here in Sweden. I'd rather live here and travel often than acctually live abroad, not that I wouldn't try it for a while...but in the long run I still feel like Sweden is a pretty good place to be.

10 Random Things You Might Not Know About Sweden/Swedes

1. We are among those that drink the most coffee in the world.
2. We almost always take our shoes off when we enter someone's home, but unlike the japanese it's not common courtesey to have slippers to offer to your guests.
3. We are the second most internet-connected country in the world.
4. Our tap water is so clean that even some bottled water doesn't meet the same standard.
5. Housewives are very uncommon.
6. We subtitle foreign tv programs rather than dub them and start learning english in school from second grade and therefore around 89% of the swedish population can speak english.
7. We are a monarchy, but the royal family does not really have any power, they are more like ambassadors. The official name for Sweden is "The Kingdom of Sweden".
8. We have not been directly involved in a war in over 200 years.
9. The zipper is a swedish invention, so is dynamite and the pacemaker.
10. The Nobel Prize is handed out in Sweden, except for the peace prize...which is handed out in Norway due to a union we used to have with them over a 100 years ago.

Oh My Dita!

Ok, so Frida and I watched the Eurovision Song Contest, together with her brothers and her boyfriend last night....and when it's time for the 17th song, Germany's entry, the swedish commentators suddenly tell us that they had apparently flown in Dita von Tease to perform during their song...

And we both gasped and looked at each other.

ON EUROVISION?????!!!

Hell, who cares about the songs anymore....JUST GIVE THE PRIZE TO DITA!!!

She's just elegantly in the background until about 2.13....

Well, in the end they didn't win....the right song did, Norway (aww isn't he adorable, in a little brother kind of way?), but man.....Dita von Tease sure did make it worth watching the whole 3,5 hour long contest.

Ok, I REALLY need a haircut. But I keep putting it off because I seriously can't decide what to do with my bangs!! The rest of the hair I'm going to cut shorter, maybe about shoulder-length, and layer a bit. But the bangs....either I keep it long like it is now (althrough trimmed a bit) so I can continue to make small rockabilly-ish pomadours like this/this, or I go back to the thick, straight bangs I used to have once upon a time.

What do you think? ^^ Please give your input!
